Iran Attacks Kuwait Power and Water Desalination Plant

A power and water desalination plant in Kuwait has been damaged in a retaliatory attack by Iran. Kuwaiti authorities confirmed on Monday that an Indian national working there was killed in the incident. Following the prolonged war between Iran and Israel–the United States, tensions in the region have now reached a peak. Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera reported the news.

In a statement, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity said that as part of Iranian aggression against Kuwait, a service building of a power and water desalination plant was attacked. As a result, one Indian worker was killed and the building suffered extensive damage. Immediately after the attack, emergency rescue teams reached the site and are trying to keep the plant’s operations normal.

Although Iran has not made any direct comment on the attack, the country’s state media reported the damage citing the Kuwaiti ministry’s statement. Reporting from Kuwait City, Al Jazeera said that since the attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran began a month ago, Kuwait has been regularly targeted.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said that on Sunday evening, 14 missiles and 12 drones were detected in its airspace. Several of these drones were launched targeting a military camp, where 10 soldiers were injured.

According to Iran, more than 2,000 people have been killed in the country in a month-long series of attacks by Israel and the United States. Among the dead are Iran’s former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, several top officials, and at least 216 children. In response, Iranian forces are carrying out drone and missile attacks on Israel and other regional countries where US military equipment or bases are present.
