Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police have arrested another former chief of DGFI. His name is Md. Afzal Naser (61).
He was arrested early Monday (March 30) from his residence in Mirpur in the capital.
Although a responsible source of the Detective Branch confirmed the arrest, it is not yet known in which case he has been arrested.
Sources say that the arrested Md. Afzal Naser served as the Director General of DGFI from June 2007 to March 2008. He was dismissed on November 5, 2009.
Sources also claim that Md. Afzal Naser was one of the main perpetrators of torture against Tarique Rahman during the 1/11 government period.
Earlier, DB arrested controversial army officer Lieutenant General (retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury and Lieutenant General (retd.) Sheikh Mamun Khaled.
